The Setting - Madikwe Game Reserve
"There is no other place I know that is so heavy with atmosphere, so strangely and darkly impregnated with that stuff of life that bears the authentic stamp of South Africa"
Herman Charles Bosman
A malaria-free reserve, 90km north of Zeerust in the North West province, which consists of 75,000 hectares of plains, open woodlands and grasslands, dotted with huge rocky hills and bordered in the south by the Dwarsberg mountains.
This is home to the "big five", lion, leopard, elephant, rhinoceros and buffalo, as well as cheetah, wild dog, spotted hyena, brown hyena, giraffe, zebra and many species of antelope and herbivores.
An exclusive reserve where you really can get close to the wild without the intrusion of multiple jeeps or the sound of people.
